After having to qualify after his first start of the season Daylon Magician turned things around on Monday (May, 14) in only his second start in the $38,000 Preferred Trot at Woodbine Racetrack.

Starting from the number 10 post position with driver Jack Moiseyev Daylon Magician left from his outside post looking to drop in mid pack and found a spot in fifth position to do just that, but they didn’t stay there long after Kashs Kaviar (Luc Quellette) and Tall Cotton (Steve Condren) switched leads to make it to the quarter pole in a respecfull 26.4. Moiseyev then pulled Daylon Magician out of the hole and the pair rolled buy Tall Cotton like a nice breeze in the cool wind. From that point on it was a race against the teletimer as Daylon Magician and Moiseyev went by the half in 56.0 flat before making it to the three quartes in 1:24.4.

That’s when Moiseyev unleashed Daylon Magician with a powerful 27.1 final quarter to go on and win by eight and a half lengths and obtain a new career mark of 1:52.0 breaking the former track record of 1:52.1 for an aged trotter held by Dr Ronerail.  Daylon Magician now has career earnings of $1,315,613 with his win.

Daylon Magician is owned by Daylon Farms Ltd of Komoka, ON and trained by Dave Lemon. The mutuel prices were $7.20, $4.10, and $3.40 for the two dollar wager.
