Perfect Rendition (Larry Stalbaum) blew away his harness racing competition and onto Yonkers Raceway’s record books Thursday night (May 10). His 1:54.3 effort matched the fastest-ever local trot mile. Leaving from post position No. 2 in the $15,500 eighth race, Perfect Rendition took no prisoners. He threw down fractions of :28, 56.1 and 1:25, opening seven lengths turning for home.
The final margin–over For You Almostfree (Dan Dube)–was 6¼ lengths, with KLM Express (Jim Marshall III) third. For Perfect Rendition, a 6-year-old gelded son of Perfectly owned by Eric Prevost and trained by Kim Asher, he returned $5.90 as the wagering favorite. It was his second win in four seasonal starts, the other an open-length 1:54 effort at Pocono late last month.
Perfect Rendition is now one-half of Yonkers’ swiftest trotting tandem, matching Shutter Boy (Yannick Gingras) from October, 2009. Perfect Rendition also set the local record for aged geldings, a tick faster than the Stalbaum-driven Rookie Mistake from this past Friday night.
The Raceway’s five-night-per-week (Monday/Tuesday/Thursday/Friday/Saturday) live schedule continues. First post for all programs remains at 7:10 PM. Evening simulcasting accompanies all live programs, with afternoon simulcasting available around the NYRA schedule. (Frank Drucker, Yonkers Raceway)
